Unlike the Sony Xperia T, the phone of choice for James Bond, these two Xperia models aren’t good at keeping their codenames. The Sony C530X HuaShan was revealed to the be the Xperia SP, while the Sony C210X will be the Xperia L.
The Sony C530X Xperia SP starred in a photo shoot a few days ago. What we know about it so far is that it will have a 720p screen (size is unclear), run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on a dual-core Krait processor at 1.7GHz and Adreno 320 GPU. There’s also LTE connectivity and a 5MP camera (this latest bit may be unreliable as it’s from Picasa, where photos are often downscaled).
The lower-end model, the Sony C210X Xperia L has a FWVGA screen with on-screen buttons and an Adreno 305-sporting chipset with a 1GHz processor, most likely a dual-core Krait. This is according toGLBenchmark scores. When the test scores were submitted, the phone ran Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, though that should move up to 4.1.2 by the time of release.
With the flagship phone (Xperia Z / ZL) out of the way, these two models stand a good chance of being unveiled at the upcoming MWC and we’ll be on the lookout for them. On a side note, what’s with Sony’s naming scheme anyway?
